Final Thoughts on Godly Goals

In Parts 1 and 2 of “Setting Goals with God in Mind,” we discussed actionable steps for setting Godly goals. Setting goals with God in mind doesn’t mean every goal must be explicitly religious or spiritual. It means that your approach to setting and pursuing your goals is deeply influenced by your relationship with God, your spiritual values, and your desire to live a life that reflects those values.

Before establishing your goals, you prayed and sought God’s guidance and wisdom. You have aligned your desires with what you believe to be God’s purpose and direction for your life. Now, you stand firmly on your faith in God; and as you work towards your goals, continue to seek God’s guidance through prayer, Bible reading, or other spiritual practices. This will ensure that your faith remains central to the goal-setting process, helping you stay aligned with God’s purpose for your life.

Setting goals with God in mind requires faith but also trust, trusting that if a goal is meant to be achieved, it will be in God’s perfect timing. It also requires flexibility, being open to adjusting your goals as you grow spiritually or as you sense God leading you in a new direction. This flexibility acknowledges that God’s plans for you may evolve over time.

Be Thankful

Most importantly, be thankful for the progress you make in achieving your goals and the blessings (big or small) along the way, even when the outcome isn’t exactly what you anticipated. Gratitude is essential for attracting God’s blessings into your life. Every goal, action, and outcome is an opportunity to glorify God and positively impact the world.

And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. ~ Colossians 3:17
