She is Forgiven by God
A blessed woman fears God and has faith in God.
The third quality of a blessed woman: she is forgiven by God. Through God’s sacrificial love comes forgiveness. God knows that sin destroys our fellowship with Him. The overwhelming guilt and condemnation we may feel when we’ve succumbed to our own wants and desires or acted in a manner that’s offensive to God. This can often cause us to retreat from Him. As a result, many of us stop praying, reading the Word, and fellowshipping with other believers.
We are not perfect; if we were, Jesus Christ would not have had to die for us. God’s grace understands that. As children of God, when we sin, God greatly desires that we immediately do two things—to help us stay in close fellowship with Him.
- We are to confess our sins before God in prayer. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
- We are to repent of our sins. This is more than just being sorry. It is having a godly sorrow for having sinned against and hurt someone we love dearly. “For godly sorrow produces repentance [the desire to turn away from our sins] leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death” (2 Corinthians 7:10, emphasis added).
A blessed woman understands that there is freedom in repentance—freedom from shame, guilt, condemnation, hopelessness, and bitterness—which paves the way for a deeper, more intimate relationship with God.
Most importantly, a blessed woman knows that if you are God’s child, nothing can separate you from the love of God, not your sins, not your feelings. … Paul, the apostle, puts it this way:
For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord ~Romans 8:38-39
She Forgives
A blessed woman also understands that we are to forgive others just as God has forgiven us. To forgive is a hard thing to do, and without God, it is even more challenging.
I have had to make the decision, in my own relationships, to move past the hurt and pain of not having my expectations met but to choose to love that person despite their or my imperfections. Often, I am forced to reflect on one of my life quotes: “The best revenge is massive success.” I am not referring to monetary gain or attaining greatness; I am referring to the ability to rise above the pain with God. To not allow bitterness, revenge, spite, or anger keep me from attaining true forgiveness in Christ. Which is the ability to love others as God loves them. To see them as God sees them— worthy of being loved..
Your Call to Order
Pray and ask God to give you His grace and mercy in helping you to forgive. Set a goal to do one of the following:
- forgive someone who has wronged you,
- pray consistently for someone who has despitefully used you,
- bless someone who has cursed you by doing something nice for them.
In return, may God “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” (Matthew 6:12).
Power Verses
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. ~Colossians 3:12-13
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. ~Ephesians 4:31-32
