The Sixth Quality of a Blessed Woman

She Bears the Fruit of Her Labor

Have you ever planted something and then waited? I mean, really waited, returned time and time again to see its growth? You water it, you tend to it, and some days you wonder if anything is happening beneath the surface. And then one morning, there it is: a tiny shoot pushing through the soil. That moment of breakthrough is not accidental. It is the result of faith, faithfulness, and time.

This is exactly how it is for a blessed woman who bears the fruit of her labor. She does not wake up one day with a harvest she did not sow. The fruit in her life (the impact, the peace, the legacy, the answered prayers) all grow out of everything she has already invested in. Her fear of God, her faith, her friendship with Him, her willingness to forgive, and her focus are not just character traits. Those qualities were seeds that produced fruits.

What Does It Mean to Bear Fruit?

In John 15:5, Jesus says something that should stop every one of us in our tracks: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” Notice, Jesus does not say, “bears some fruit,” or “bears fruit occasionally when life isn’t too busy.” He says, beats much fruit.

Bearing the fruit of your labor goes beyond getting things done. It involves producing results that are aligned with God’s purpose for your life. This work matters, not just by worldly standards of success, but by God’s standards as well. It is the kind of fruit that lasts beyond a season, beyond a deadline, beyond a trend. It is the kind of fruit that has the power to change lives, nurture families, build communities, and ultimately glorify God.

I frequently reference the Proverbs 31 Woman in my examples because there is so much to learn from her. She is often discussed, sometimes seen as intimidating, and occasionally misunderstood. However, what stands out about her is not her perfection but her productivity in a purposeful way. Proverbs 31:31 says, “Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Her fruit reflects her character and commitment. It is visible. It is recognizable. And it speaks for her even when she says nothing at all.

The Connection Between All the Other Qualities

You cannot fully understand Quality Six unless you revisit the first five, because fruit does not fall out of the sky. It grows from roots. Let’s trace the connection:

  • She fears God (Quality 1). Proverbs 9:10 tells us that “the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom….” Wisdom is a prerequisite for fruitful labor. A woman who fears God makes decisions guided by discernment rather than impulse, and that wisdom is evident in the quality of what she produces.
  • She has faith in God (Quality 2). Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that “without faith it is impossible to please God.” Faith is what moves a woman to step out and do the work even when the results are not yet visible. Her labor is activated by her faith.
  • She is forgiven by God (Quality 3). Freedom from guilt and shame unlocks potential. A woman who walks in forgiveness is not weighed down by her past failures. She gets up, she tries again, and she keeps going. That persistence is part of what produces lasting fruit.
  • She is a friend of God (Quality 4). In John 15:15–16, Jesus says to His disciples, “I have called you friends… I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain.” Notice that it is within the context of friendship with God that Jesus speaks about bearing fruit. A blessed woman’s intimacy with God is not incidental to her fruitfulness; it is the environment in which fruit grows.
  • She has a heart focused on God (Quality 5). Colossians 3:23 says, “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” A woman with a God-focused heart does not labor aimlessly. Her focus gives her work direction and meaning, and that intentionality produces good fruit.

Do you see it? Every quality was building toward bearing fruit. The tree had to grow and develop before the fruit could ever appear.

Her Fruit Is Diverse

We make a mistake when we think of “fruit” only in terms of career achievement, educational attainment, or a ministry milestone. The fruit of a blessed woman’s labor takes many forms, and all of them matter before God.

The fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22–23 describes the fruit of the Spirit as “…love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control….” When a woman abides in God and tends to her spiritual life, this fruit becomes evident in her relationships, her responses, and her presence. People around her are blessed by it.

The fruit of her hands. This includes her tangible work, whether she is building a business, raising children, serving her church, mentoring women, writing, teaching, or creating. When her hands are guided by God’s wisdom and her heart is His, the work of her hands yields results that exceed expectation.

The fruit of her influence. Titus 2:3–5 describes the older woman who teaches the younger women in wisdom and godliness. Her life becomes a curriculum for others to study. The blessed woman does not just produce for herself; she multiplies into others. Her fruit has seeds, and those seeds produce more fruit.

The fruit of her seasons. Psalm 1:3 describes the person who delights in God’s Word as “a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season.” Notice: in its season. There are seasons of planting, seasons of waiting, and seasons of harvest. The blessed woman trusts the process and does not despise the quiet seasons because she knows her roots grow deeper in them.

Your Call to Order

To bear the fruit of your labor, you must nurture the environment where fruit can flourish:

  • Stay connected to the vine. Make time with God non-negotiable, because everything else flows from Him.
  • Keep doing the work, even when you cannot see results. Your faithfulness in the unseen seasons is preparation for visible fruit.
  • Guard against comparison. Your fruit is your fruit. It’s appointed, specific, and beautiful. Walk in it without apology.
  • Celebrate the fruit that is already in your life: your relationships, your growth, your impact. Gratitude for small fruit opens the door to greater harvest.

A blessed woman bears fruit. Not because she is striving, but because she is abiding. And there is a beautiful, God-ordained difference between the two.
